Brrr it is cold outside! With the temperatures dipping below zero and the nights now longer and darker than ever, you'd be forgiven for thinking that security officers would struggle this time of year. You'd be wrong -- well as far as security officers that are part of the Carter Solutions and Services team!

Whilst the winter brings various challenges, nothing will stop our mobile patrols, door supervisors or manned guarding teams from giving nothing but 100% on each and every shift. One thing that can help when it comes to cameras is thermal imagery.

The main benefit of thermal imagery cameras is their ability to pick up heat in darkness. This shows as an outline of a whatever is giving out heat -- whether that's a warm car engine, rabbit, or trespasser. With the sun setting earlier and rising later, having 'eyes' in the darkness is a huge advantage, especially if they are positioned in inconspicuous places. What's more, it doesn't matter how cold it is outside, they WILL pick up on a human!!

Many of our clients use thermal imagery cameras onsite, as they're a particularly useful tool for monitoring large expanses of land, or premises with multiple buildings. This could be anything from industrial sites to universities. They are able to pick up body heat from trespassers, highlighting them in the midst of darkness. This alerts our team to the exact location of the perpetrator, allowing them to detain the individual until the local authorities arrive. Of course, cameras are only as good as the people watching them, and our team are highly trained in knowing exactly what to look for -- and where.

Cameras, including CCTV and thermal imagery cameras, are a great way of incorporating technology into your security efforts. They're a great way of enhancing your security presence, but cameras are a reactive rather than a proactive solution.

The best way to reduce crime at your business is with manned guarding or mobile patrols. Nothing will provide better protection that highly-trained security officers that are ready to leap into action as necessary. Not only can they handle and diffuse situations, but the threat of having someone on site is often enough to deter individuals from committing crimes. The fact that they have clear uniforms and clearly marked vans highlights to anyone walking past, with good or bad intentions, that you're serious about security.
