Snow is on its way, another big freeze, and for our men and women on the ground that means freezing night shifts. The change in the weather will not mean a change in the quality of security, and there are a number of steps we take to ensure our security officers remain safe.
Forecasts say that over the next weeks we can expect snow to fall and settle, along with a high risk of ice. Plummeting temperatures will no doubt be a challenge for businesses across the UK, but the warnings have enabled us to prepare for the worst, as best we can.
Wearing weather appropriate clothing
This might sound like and obvious point, but it's arguably the most important. Snow and icy temperatures can have a devastating effect on the human body, and therefore it's vitally important that as a company we provide all of our staff with the right equipment that enables them to stay warm.
Hats, scarves, gloves and thick socks will always be encouraged, and our jackets are waterproof and well insulated too.
Keeping outside areas well lit
Snow and high winds can make it difficult to see and navigate, especially for our mobile patrols during the night. Therefore, we would encourage our clients to leave outside lights on as more than just a security precaution -- it will help to keep our security officers safe during the night too.
Occasional breaks throughout the night
This is a balancing act, we know that, and we would never encourage our security officers to take more breaks than necessary, their priority will always be to protect your business premises from theft, trespassing and any other form of crime. However, we also need to consider the welfare of our staff, and harsh winter conditions calls for occasional breaks to allow our men and women to quickly warm up before getting back out on the ground again.
Staying in touch, whatever the weather
Safety will always be at the top of our list -- that means keeping your business safe and secure, and keeping our staff safe too. Constant communication is great way of keeping our remote staff safe, allowing them to report any change in circumstance to us directly, whenever they're on shift. One way we do this is through Deputy, our security guard attendance and welfare app, which enables us to remotely monitor our staff.
We are well prepared for the coming weather, and we're determined that any amount of snow won't affect the service we provide to our clients.
