If you've had to close your business for the duration of lockdown and you're making the necessary arrangement to open back up mid-June, then there are several risks you'll need to consider to ensure your business security remains effective.

1.Forgetful staff

If you've needed to furlough staff, then they've had almost 10 weeks inside their homes. 10 weeks is a long time! Not only have they been off work for a considerable amount of time, but they have had very little to stimulate their brains. 'Lockdown' down for many has been mentally challenging, and depending on individual circumstances people may struggle to keep up in the weeks after their return. They'll be 'out of habit' so to speak, and this might result in forgetting to reset alarm codes, forgetting to close windows, forgetting to lock up... and so on. When you close for the day, this might result in unknowingly leaving your business vulnerable to opportunistic criminals

2.Untrained staff

Refreshing security procedures should be an important part of your induction training for the reasons mentioned above. However, the world we're returning to is a very different one to the one we left. We now have social distancing measures in place which will affect every company -- however big or small. Its impact depends on the nature of your business, but it could be social distancing measures within the office, on the shop floor or inside the warehouse. This can feel daunting, so having a training security team on hand to help in managing people allowed in and out of the store -- for example -- would allow your team to feel safe and supported in returning to work.

3.Increased stock levels

Returning to the workplace is exciting! Many of us of tired of 'lockdown' and if we can return safely, many will do so enthusiastically! This means stock can be ordered, goods can be stored and shipments can be made up! What this also means is increased levels of stocks being left overnight or an influx of deliveries to your warehouse or store, and therefore several different delivery drivers entering and leaving. All of this can put your business at risk. Our security officers can patrol 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring that no unauthorised personnel are allowed on the site.

4.Boundary issues

As mentioned before, 10 weeks is a long time for your business to have been closed -- it's something no business could have possibly planned for, and in those 10 weeks many things could have happened to your external boundaries to cause damage, compromising their integrity.
