This means that we individually choose the security guards to patrol your premises based on their skill set and your needs. Roles and responsibilities of security officers

This module aims to introduce the security officer to the industry and identify their role. It states their main duties, including the purpose of control rooms, the equipment that they'll be issued and ensuring that they understand confidentiality is an important part of their role.

Mobile patrolling

Depending on your requirement, you may want security officers on site to patrol the premises. This module therefore ensures that the security officer understands the different types of patrols and any actions that may need to take place before a patrol. When patrolling, it's important that the security guard is vigilant and uses local and site knowledge to their advantage.

Access and egress control

There are many different methods of providing access and egress patrol, and it's therefore important that your security officers understand them and their typical duties.

Searching

It may be that a security officer is required to search an individual before they can grant them access to the site. It's important for them to understand their right to search and how to safely carry out a search of a person, their property or their vehicle. In today's modern society, it's also important to understand cultural and religious considerations when performing a search, as well as additional considerations for searching people with a disability, or minors. There are of course hazards involved with searching, and training also covers these so that security officers are kept safe in their role.

Electronic and physical protection systems

Part of the role of a security guard involves different types of electronic and physical protection systems. These each have a select purpose and function, so it's important that each of them are confidently understood.

The security officer and the law

A security officer's role is closely linked with the law, and therefore understanding its relevance is a huge part of the job. This module covers different types of trespass; relevant legislation and crimes; their power of arrest; as well as listing different types of evidence.

Reporting and record keeping

Understandably, reporting and record keeping are hugely important in the role of a security guard -- including that of evidential content.
