Well, what a week it has been! The sun hasn't given it a moment's rest over the last few days and for our security officers at pubs, clubs and bars, that means enjoying all day in the sunshine. Pub gardens and outdoor seating areas have been bursting with people making the most of the summer, but whilst our security officers know to keep on top of hydration, the same can't be said for everyone!
Anyone who's been to a boozy sunny BBQ can understand the dangers of drinking alcohol, ignoring water and staying outside in the heat of the sun. It can cause people to lose their inhibitions much more quickly as the alcohol floods their dehydrated system, and this can quickly result in antisocial behaviour- this is where our security officers come in.
Recognising troublesome groups
Our years of experience make it second nature to recognise groups of individuals that may cause trouble. If this isn't managed appropriately, it might cause in damages to your property by people being drunk and disorderly, or result in a scuffle or other such violent behaviours. If a group is becoming too rowdy and affecting those around them, our security officers can step in with a warning. If the warning is ignored, we have no qualms about asking that group to leave. Having security officers on-site that you can trust keeps your staff safe and free from confrontation, and it will also help to ensure everyone else at your pub, club or bar has a great evening.
Being a friendly face to those that need support
If an all-day drinking session has resulted in a few individuals becoming a little worse for wear, part of our role of security officers is helping them to get home safely. This might be calling them a taxi, or providing them with water should they need it. The safety and security of everyone at your hospitality venue is our top priority. It's this fundamental quality that's led to first aid training becoming a requirement for SIA license holders, enabling security officers to offer support in any situation.
Utilising the 'Ask for Angela' campaign
With reduced social distancing restrictions and the mixing of social bubbles comes the potential for singletons to search for love, wanting to return to the dating scene once more. Apps have become an increasingly popular way to meet potential new partners, but as with any form of meeting with strangers, it might end up feeling uncomfortable, or who you meet might not be who you thought they were -- a term known as 'catfishing'. We're proud to be part of the 'Ask for Angela' scheme, allowing someone to approach a security guard using that key phrase to alert them that something isn't quite right. We can then find a safe way to remove that person from that situation, whether that's calling them a taxi, or slipping them out of the staff entrance. With security and safety our top priority, we're pleased to support people using this campaign.
