Choosing a career in security isn't just about changing your job. It's a lifestyle change. It's demanding, both mentally and physically and it's demanding on your time too. It requires 100% focus on every shift, but the reward of knowing you're really making a difference -- especially during these difficult times, makes choosing to be a security officer one of the most rewarding decisions you can make.
The UK is facing a recession, the economy has taken a hit from the lockdown that the coronavirus pandemic forced upon us. How serious that recession is, is anyone's guess, but if you are facing an uncertain future then looking for a change in career could be on the cards. As keyworkers, security officers have helped throughout the lockdown period, adapting their roles to fit new social distancing guidelines and adapting their skills to support new industries during these challenging times. In the life of a security officer, no day is ever the same, and if this is something that appeals to you, then perhaps it's a step in the right direction for you.
Like many businesses, we have had to change and adapt our processes over the past few months, but we're in a fortunate position to be able to still need to recruit individuals. However, these individuals need to be of the right calibre, now more than ever, as a security guards role is no longer just about keeping businesses safe from crime, but with supporting social distancing measures, they are now working hard to keep people safe from coronavirus itself.
With that all said, there are a few key things worth noting before applying for a security officer position with Carter Solutions and Services Ltd.
Ensure you have a valid SIA license
One of our key principles is that we do not subcontract staff, choosing instead to invest in our individuals, as well as paying above minimum wage. An SIA license costs £210 for a three-year license, a small investment when it comes to your career, but it demonstrates to us that you're committed to the role and that you meet the minimum requirements necessary for starting work immediately.
You can apply for an SIA license and undergo the necessary training by visiting the Security Industry Authority website.
