We’re actively recruiting talented individuals to join our team, but why should you consider a career with Carter Security? Our blog details the benefits of being a security officer and what you can expect from a role with Carter Security.

1. Enjoy an active career

Working from home has become the recognised norm, with remote working appearing on almost every job ad! To those of us who are active individuals, a role in security is a great place to start. A far cry away from an office job, a security officer is on his or her feet throughout the shift, whether that's as a door supervisor, mobile patrol, or manned guarding position. For some of our larger clients, this might mean patrolling the premises (with regular breaks, of course!). Being active is a huge part of the role, and it means that no one shift is ever the same.

As a trusted individual, you might find yourself being approached for help by members of the public, or you might have to utilise your de-escalation training to split up anti-social behaviour! You might be called upon to contact the local authorities or report on the events of your shift to us and the client. It’s a hugely diverse, active, and rewarding role.

2. Challenge yourself

A career in security is far from easy and it isn’t for everyone. Not only could the role involve evening, night time, and weekend working – we tend to operate within a 4-day on / 4-day off pattern, but the people you might encounter could be fairly volatile. All of our security officers need to hold a valid SIA license before applying, but we continue to invest in our staff with quality training throughout their careers. Training includes de-escalation and conflict management, as well as developing skills you might otherwise not have needed in other jobs in the past. It's a challenge, but knowing you're making a difference to not only your clients but the wider community, makes it an incredibly rewarding career choice. If you’ve heard of the ‘Ask for Angela’ scheme you can see just how impactful the role of a security officer is in safeguarding the general public.

3. A fair salary and career progression

Finally, there's compensation. We never subcontract, believing that it will affect the quality of the security we provide, potentially affecting the reputation we've worked hard to build and maintain. We, therefore, pay our security officers a fair wage, often above the minimum required, rewarding them for their dedication. We also encourage our security officers to reach their full potential, offering career progression wherever necessary with designated training about our Head Office in Wisbech.

So, if you're looking to further your career within the security industry, please check the careers section on our website or email us an up-to-date copy of your C.V. We are currently recruiting Door Supervisors, Security Officers, Mobile Patrol Officers, and Manned Guarding Officers - for full-time and part-time positions. We never subcontract our staff, we invest in their training and we work hard to support our staff. If you could picture yourself working for one of the leading security companies in the UK, please get in touch. We look forward to meeting you!
