Security is an incredible industry that can welcome people from all walks of life. It’s such a varied industry, with a range of security services across a range of different industries, and we operate nationally too. No shift is ever the same, and as someone responsible for the security of a site or persons, it’s an amazingly rewarding role too.
Anyone with the right attitude has the potential for being a brilliant security officer. You need to be trustworthy, hardworking, and a team player. You have to be able to think on your feet, be confident in your abilities to diffuse a potentially volatile situation, and understand that you’re often the first point of contact for the local authorities should they be required.
With so many different sectors, we’re sure to have a client that would suit the particular skillset of a security officer. For example, licensed gaming venues could be better suited to others, dependent on their cultural and spiritual beliefs, and night shifts might be great for one individual but not so much to another. This makes it an inclusive and rewarding industry, and with clients needing security all over the country we are confident we’ll have a suitable position lined up for you.
As is always the case, we have high standards when it comes to the recruitment of security officers. We hope the below sheds some light on what it is we’re looking for.
You must hold a valid SIA license
It’s important that you already hold a valid SIA license before applying for a position with us. For us, a valid SIA license is the basic standard that every Carter Security officer must hold, and all potential candidates need to hold this before applying. This allows us to build upon an individual's training, and industry-specific training as well depending on the client and contract.
You can easily apply for an SIA license via the government website: www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-sia-licence
Why should you consider a position as a security officer?
The role of a security officer is a complex one, but incredibly rewarding too! Security personnel are seen as trustworthy, responsible, and professional individuals, ready to respond to whatever situation is presented in front of them. Regardless of the role and contract, a security officer needs to be calm and be an excellent communicator. They are an extension of the team of our clients, and as such a security officer represents both Carter Security and the client. We have an excellent reputation in the security industry, and if you think you have what it takes, please get in touch to apply today
