Firework displays really are a great way to get the local community together. It means wrapping up warm with scarves and gloves, putting on an extra pair of socks and making sure your phone is fully charged ready to take spectacular photos of the fireworks! Bonfire night is a brilliant excuse to meet up with friends and family, getting a hot chocolate from a food van and maybe even a cheeky hotdog too. Local firework events really are great, but they also require a security presence as there is potential for a lot to go wrong if security isn't taken seriously.
Event tickets and crowd control.
If your event is ticketed, then do you have a method of checking these before people enter your event? Our 'door' supervisors don't necessarily need a 'door' to do a great job -- a gate or barrier will work just fine! Ensuring that only the right people come in isn't just about making sure everyone has paid, in fact, from our point of view, it's much more important to ensure numbers don't get out of hand. Many venues have number restrictions, and these are hugely important from a safety point of view. It's worth remembering that fireworks are explosives after all, and that makes safety a huge factor -- and therefore, crowds need to be kept under control.
Making sure people don't get too close.
Whilst this is part of crowd control, it's important to mention that firework events will have a cornered off section with plenty of space to ensure no one gets too close to the display itself. A barrier will be set up and it will be the job of the security team to ensure that these barriers are respected throughout the duration of the evening.
Ensuring banned items are removed before entering the event.
Unfortunately banned items such as alcohol or sharps might be attempted to be brought into the event. Our door supervisor team are highly trained to handle such situations, ensuring that everyone stays safe. If you need any advice on what should be listed as prohibited items, please don't hesitate to ask us. We have extensive experience in providing security for large, public events and we're happy to share our advice with you.
Keeping everyone safe.
Just like you, we want everyone to have a brilliant time and from our point of view, that means keeping everyone safe. Having a security presence on site will put people's minds at rest, allowing them to look to the skies and enjoy the fireworks, instead of worrying about their personal safety! With Christmas fast approaching, we're right at the beginning of a magical time of year, and the last thing we want is for people to compromise their safety along the way.
